Boating season has been great so far!

We’ve been out a few times this year and the pups love it. Gracie loves to stand up front and watch as we race over the water.

Snoopy is a great boater too! She loves to be rocked to sleep and nap all afternoon while on the lake.

Although both these pups are expert boaters they still need me to keep them safe. And part of keeping them safe is to keep them hydrated! As soon as we board the boat, the first thing I do is get them a drink of fresh cool water. Once they finish that first long drink I’ll refill their bowl and top it off with an ice cube or two. I also like to take their beach towel and dunk it in the lake, really soak it, and then place on the boat floor for them to lay on. I try to keep them as comfortable as possible by keeping them cool and wet.

Congratulations are in order for Snoopy and Gracie. They both passed their Volunteer Pet therapy tests today!! On their first try, I might add.

We were so happy when they passed. We had been a little nervous about Gracie because she can be a little hyper. Snoopy was a shoe in!! We already knew she would pass because she has volunteered before and because she’s an older dog that is quite calm.

We recently started to put Gracie in a t-shirt when we want to calm her down and it really works well. We knew we wanted to have her take her test with a t-shirt on so she would have the best odds of passing. And she did!!

Snoopy and Gracie did great!! They passed their test, got certified and then went to visit the residents at an assisted living facility. All in one morning! Whew, that was a lot!!

We had so much fun sharing them with other people. They got hugs and petting and tons of compliments on how cute they are. It looks like this will be something they do every month, sometimes twice a month.

It was a terrific experience and I can hardly wait to go visit everybody again with my two little celebrities!! I will keep you all posted on their progress.

Last week I got the great privilege of helping PALS help a Doggy Baby mama get her baby to the Vet. In case you don’t know who PALS is please follow the links.here  The pup pictured below is Coco and she is awesome. So is her mama! I drove Coco to an appointment in Buckhead where she was receiving care at a discount with the help of PALS.

It’s so nice to be able to give the time to drive these great ladies around Atlanta. Which, by the way, has some serious traffic issues. I don’t think they’ve discovered the usefulness of a left hand turn lane yet. But I digress. It’s a little scary being responsible for strangers and their pup while I drive the streets and freeways of Atlanta.

Please disregard the hair-do, it wasn’t a great hair day. Anywho, we hung out in the waiting room together. She was so much fun to play with too!

Her check up went well and she picked up her flea and heartworm prevention for the rest of the year. Hope to see Coco and her mama again really soon.

And then there’s me. I’m grateful for all these people and pets that I am lucky enough to live with everyday. I am grateful that we are all happy, healthy and have enough to eat. Really, what else is there? Seems like the rest is fluff.

Our little Gracie is a wonderful little dog. We love her to death. She’s a great cuddler and she has a special gift with her kisses. She will surprise you at any given time with a French kiss.

She’s kinda sneaky about it too. Usually when I greet her and let her lick my face I keep my lips shut tight!! But she will wait until just the right moment and then WHAM!! She puts her tongue in my mouth. It’s only for a fraction of a second because I will quickly pull away. But she is so super fast and sneaky that you have to laugh.

When I go out with Gracie and Snoopy people will ask me what breed Gracie is. They don’t ask about Snoopy because she is very obviously a Beagle, but Gracie is a mutt. A delightful and delicate little mutt. But I now know that she is actually a Ninja French kisser.

This is another thing she likes to do. She likes to kiss you while you are sleeping. Snoopy is NOT a kisser. So, Gracie waits until Snoopy is asleep and then gives her kisses. Or should I say, takes advantage of poor Snoopy while she is sleeping. Speaking of taking advantage while sleeping, check out this picture.

Yup, that’s exactly what it looks like!! Gracie is giving me kisses while “someone” took a picture. I’m not sure how long this went on but I too felt taken advantage of while I slept.

Oh the trials of being a Doggy Baby mama. Gracie is a joy. She brings so much happiness into my life. Because of that, I will tolerate her Ninja French kisses. :0)

Early this week we had the great priviledge to be part of a great event for a local charity. We donated products for a silent auction to support early literacy in Georgia. Little did we know that See Beautiful™ would later feature us on their blog.

I am so humbled to read their views of what we do and how we do it. It brings tears to my eyes to know that someone is watching, taking note and then sharing the positive things they see.

Thank you See Beautiful™  for being so kind! I can hardly wait to see what other wonderful things we can do together!

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I used to make every bowl and every pouch by hand all by myself. Then when my bowl became a genius, nontoxic, mass produced work of art, the pouches also became mass produced. So, when you are a small fry like myself, mass production is a big deal and it’s not cheap. I had to limit the color selection and variety of my pouches. ALL the pouches now are made in denim. But, I just came across a picture of two of the assorted pouches I used to make.

These pouch sets are not available at this time. But a long time ago it was one of the many different pouches that I made. I wonder if you would be interested in more of these colorful pouches.

This is the denim pouch that we currently have in store. I think it’s really cute, but it’s the one and only option. It’s denim, denim or denim. So, I ask ya, do you want more variety?

We will find out!

It is that time again. Time to be thankful for what we’ve got!

I am so thankful for my Doggy Baby Gracie and my Doggy Baby Snoopy. I’m thankful for Moon, Sky & Tabitha too, even though they aren’t a Doggy Baby :0)

I hope you all have a terrific time celebrating with friends and family. We will be enjoying some awesome home cooked goodies over here. I am going to share with you a nice list of Thanksgiving Safety Tips that I found on the ASPCA site. We don’t need a sick pet to put a damper on all our fun.

I would also like to suggest to you all that if you are having a bunch of people over to your house that you pay your pet a little extra attention. Too much unusual activity can stress your pet out and cause them to run away in an attempt to get away from it all (it can happen to the best of us, even mom). Give your pup a little alone time. Take them to your bedroom for a little quiet time. You can probably use a little moment of quiet time yourself.

Don’t let your friends kids poke at them and feed them WHATEVER they feel like. This can be toxic later on.

This is going to be a great holiday for everyone if we can all stay safe and healthy!

Our little Gracie Lou had another seizure this week. It has been a few months since the last one. Her veterinarian told us not to worry unless her seizures occur multiple times a week or mulitiple times a day. This hasn’t happened to her thank goodness.

Needless to say, it’s alway a little scary to see our little baby suddenly lose control of her muscle movement. Hubby was home during this seizure and so was I. He picked Gracie up off the sofa and wrapped her in a beach towel. Then he took her into a dark room and just held her while telling her she’s a good girl. It’s very important to stay calm during the seizure. Gracie doesn’t understand what’s happening to her the way we do. We don’t want to add any kind of discomfort at all. We just need to keep her from hurting herself  by falling off the sofa or hitting her head during the seizure.

None of those things happened, thank goodness. But I do wonder how many seizures she’s had while we were not around.

After it was all over she seemed a little confused, but shortly after she was back to her playful self. I think she was a little extra tired too. But maybe she was just feeling extra cozy laying in her bucket bed.

We love our little Gracie Lou so much. It’s hard to watch her going through some of this. We feel so helpless while it’s happening. But we really aren’t helpless. We can control her proximity to dangers like falling or hitting herself against a hard surface.

The best thing to do is stay calm. It doesn’t help anyone if we were to freak out. Wrapping her in her beach towel served two purposes. First it made her feel protected and it helped protect us in case she wet herself or throws up, neither of which happened.

Dogma Dog Care had a fantastic event called “For the Love of Dogs”.

We have taken part in many outdoor pet festivals in the past and Dogma did not disappoint. The event benefited the Villalobos Rescue Center as seen on Animal Planet for their program “Pit-bulls and Parolees” as the build a pet sanctuary. There were tons of dogs and event a pony and a boa constrictor!

There was a terrific DJ and lots of food. T.V. and radio personalities were there too. We met so many great people!

These women were awesome!! They work with some tough cookies. Clearly they are lovely ladies that get to the cuddly part of tough cookies!

Snoopy and Gracie had a terrific time too. It was hotter than we expected. It was a November event so I spent the night before embroidering our jackets with our Doggy Baby logo. The jackets came off early in the morning while we set up our booth and we never put them back on.

We also launched our Kitty Allure gear! We were brave enough to bring our own kitty, Mhagen Leonard, to the event.

We made Kitty Allure catnip pillows, tote bags and t-shirts and people LOVED them!.
